Mine Risk Education

In 1998 PeaceTrees Vietnam opened the Danaan Parry Landmine Education Center. Situated in the park we cleared of unexploded bombs and reforested, the center provides much needed services to the children of Vietnam

The center serves the two fold purpose. First it is a visitors center complete with displays and interactive "games" to educate interested individuals about the landmine and bomb issue in Vietnam.  Secondly, the center is a training center for Vietnam volunteers who will return to their own communities to teach mines awareness.  This is the first such center and program in Vietnam.

PTVN works directly with the Women's Union of Quang Tri Province, the Committee for the population, Families and Children in QTP and the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province.

In 2008/2009 PeaceTrees Vietnam was awarded a generous grant from the U.S. Department of State allowing us to create an Ethnic Minority Mobile Mine Risk Education Team; totaling $107,766.00.  This important project is the first of its kind and will be serving the Ethnic Minority population of Quang Tri Province.
