Katherine Towler

After traveling to Viet Nam to teach Vietnamese undergraduates at Viet Nam National University in Hanoi, Katie joined a PeaceTrees Citizen's Diplomacy trip in 2024. Deeply moved to see firsthand all that PeaceTrees has accomplished through its demining and other humanitarian work, she gained a wider understanding of Vietnamese culture and history and a profound respect for the dedicated staff in Viet Nam and the U.S. Her desire to support PeaceTrees' mission led Katie to join the board later in 2024.

A writer and teacher, Katie has published five books, including three novels and a memoir. She spent many years teaching in the MFA Program in Writing at Southern NH University and continues to work as a writer and consultant to schools and nonprofits, producing promotional materials. She lives in Portsmouth, NH. A passionate birder, she has enjoyed close encounters with Viet Nam's spectacular tropical birds on her trips to the country.
