Norm Knodt
Norm served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from January 1968 to January 1969 and flew UH-1B & C armed helicopters (gunships). He participated in operations at the Battle of Hue, Khe Sahn, and the A Shau Valley. His initial assignment was in Dong Ha, which he learned in 2015 is the headquarters of PeaceTrees Vietnam. Norm has participated in two Citizen Diplomacy Trips, which provided him the opportunity to visit exact locations where he served over 50 years ago. He met descendants of the ethnic minority families that lived there during the war and saw how PeaceTrees was assisting them with removal of unexploded ordnance, sustainable vegetable gardens, and kindergartens for their children.
Norm has served as a PeaceTrees’ board member since 2021. He worked in the civilian helicopter industry for 20 years, including five in Papua New Guinea. He’s currently a Financial Advisor with Cetera Advisor Networks, LLC and lives in Redmond, Oregon.
