Stephen Chentow
Stephen (Steve) and his wife Kathy Ryan were introduced to PeaceTrees over 15 years ago. They traveled to Vietnam on a Citizen Diplomacy Trip in 2018, where they witnessed the amazing work of the organization. Steve joined the board in 2019 and serves on the finance and executive committees.
Steve grew up in Ohio, received his MD from the University of Rochester, and in 1970 began his pediatric training at Seattle Children’s and the University of Washington (UW). He served in the U.S. Navy from 1973-1975 as a pediatrician at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego before returning to Seattle for a subspecialty certification in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine. Steve was on the clinical faculty of UW and medical director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, Washington. He retired in 2012.
A father of five and a grandfather of seven, Steve enjoys time with family, travel, and volunteer work as a tutor in Seattle schools.
