About the Community: This two-room Kindergarten serves the children of CuTy village, Hướng Lộc commune, Hương Hóa district, Quảng Trị province. Hướng Lộc is a mountainous commune located in Hương Hóa district, Quảng Trị province. The whole commune has 6 villages, 646 households with 3,262 people. Ethnic minority households account for 94% of the population in the commune. Over 62% of households in the commune experience poverty. CuTy village, one of the six in the commune, has 114 households with 586 people. Approximately 90% of the population belong to the Van Kieu ethnic minority group. The existing CuTy village kindergarten was built in 1992. After 29 years of use, and multiple consecutive storms, including the 2020 floods and landslides, the existing building was insufficient for use. The new two-room school now serves the 47 kindergarten aged children in the village. This kindergarten provides a safe learning environment along with nutritious meals during the day.
